About Heather

Gosh… how do you even start this without sounding self-centred?

My name is Heather (as you can likely see plastered all over the place) and I am a 46-year-old married woman/wife/mother/friend/artist.

I spent my life loving, learning about and using my medical knowledge to help as many people as possible but due to my mental health issues, my dream job of being a doctor needed to be tweaked to be much less stressful. I now try to share my mental health journey in such a way as to hopefully entertain and teach at the same time.

My knowledge of Complex Post-traumatic Stress, Dissociative Identity Disorder, Depression and Anxiety did not come to me easily and I learned it all the hard way. I now know these disorders from the inside looking out and I have become odd friends with each one of them.

I am now a full-time writer and blogger, a psycho-educational/motivational speaker,  I run a bustling C-PTSD support group, and I am also an artist. The best form of therapy. It all keeps me very busy but I love it and the feeling that I get when I realize that someone else feels heard… truly heard and not so alone, makes it all worthwhile.

Healing is so incredibly possible. With compassion, some much-needed additional knowledge, a bit of personal experience, and  the willingness to try, I hope to share what I have learned and light the pathway to healing for others.
